Big Foot's Toe?!?!?!

The year has just started and I've already been MIA from this new venture. BUT, I have been creating a bit lately. Mainly because my youngest daughter had a request that I make her a Bigfoot toe. Yes, you read that correctly.... a Bigfoot TOE. So, I went to the old Google to see what I could find. I did find a listing on Etsy from The Dusty Tentacle for some handmade toes that were quite grotesque and probably exactly what she was looking for.  But, as a DIYer, I wanted to try to tackle the project on my own. I was going to attempt the air dry clay route, but that was an absolute disaster. I do not know how to work with air dry clay apparently. The texture was too papery or something... the only thing I am sure of is that I didn't like it.  Next, paper mache'.  I took a ball of aluminum foil and smashed it into the shape and size of what I thought a Big Foot's toe would be. Then, I mixed my glue and water and started applying the craft paper to said aluminum foil.  After many layers, it was finally looking as gross as  I ever imagined. The last step was to add some watery paint to give it that grungy dirty look and add some yarn for the toe hair (blehk).  Give it a good coat of matte mod podge and... all done.  With the drying time and chronic procrastination, this project took me a few days. If you (or your child) are in the market for a Bigfoot toe (no judgement here), if I can make it happen... anyone can. But, if you prefer to find one already made and of better quality, check out the link above. I get no kickbacks or anything from the lister, I don't even know who they are, just wanted to give credit where credit is due for the inspiration for this interesting (to say the least) art project.  My daughter absolutely loves it. I, on the other hand, do not look forward to being surprised with this thing all over the house.
